Antec Signature 850 Power Supply

IMG_5761Given their wide spread availability including Box stores like Best Buy, Antec power supplies are well known. In the past their reputation could be called hit or miss when it comes to quality, but given our past experience with the Quattro 850 its obvious bad quality issues are in the past. The next step up from the TruePower Quattro is Antec's Signature line. Today I will be taking a closer look at an 850Watt version of the Signature line to see how it performs.

Halo 3: ODST - Xbox 360

haloBungie has been working hard in expanding the Halo universe, and with such a following the game has accumulated over the years, it hasn't been that hard of a task. Granted, those fans were earned from the enormous success of Halo: Combat Evolved, which all credit will be given that's due, was truly a great game. From there, Master Chief has seemed to take on the role of Mario, spreading to all types of media beyond video games, including books, illustrated novels, animated series, and a rumored movie (hopefully it works out better for him than our plumbing friend). Not to place all their eggs in one basket, or perhaps to make the basket that much sweeter when it comes around, the latest two installations in the series (Halo Wars and Halo 3 ODST) have strayed from the protagonist, focusing on other pivotal moments and characters in the tale.

Seagate Free Agent XTreme 2Tb

IMG_5644_lrOver the past few months we have taken a look at a full selection of Seagate’s business and home external hard drives. Seagate took a note from the late 90’s with the latest drive we are looking at. The Free Agent Xtreme is a personal desktop drive with a 2Tb capacity. So what does Xtreme stand for? Maybe the drive is made for extreme conditions? Or maybe it skydives? I’m going to dive in and find out what it’s all about, how it performs, and how extreme it really is.

Razer Moray+

IMG_5890_lrEarly this year I had the chance to check out a new and exciting pair of ear buds from Razer called the Moray. Overall I was very happy with them but I felt that they needed more of a gaming edge coming from Razer. Not long after our review they announced the Moray+. Apparently Razer was thinking the same thing as us because the Moray+ addressed that issue specifically. Today I have a chance to take a look at the Moray+ and see how there improvements helped.

Kodak Zx1 HD Video Recorder

IMG_5662_lrWe recently took a look at a new product that has become really popular in the YouTube community called the Flip UltraHD. After my review I was looking into similar products and found out a few other companies make similar products. One of those is the Zx1 from Kodak that was announced at CES this past January. Today I have a chance to take a look at the Zx1 to see how it compares against the Flip UltraHD. The Zx1 doesn’t have ultra or HD in its name but it does record in 720p and its name sounds like a sport bike so it should be an interesting comparison.

Cooler Master Gladiator 600

100_2275-LanOCIf you look up the definiton of gladiator on Dictionary.com, you'll get three results, one of which is interestingly accurate for a gaming chassis: "a person ...armed with a sword or other weapon and compelled to fight to the death in a public arena against another person or a wild animal, for the entertainment of the spectators." Is a case not a gamer's sword, fighting against others for our entertainment? Cooler Master has sent their warrior, the Gladiator 600, for us to review, and see how it stacks up as the thrid, and most simplistic definition: prizefighter.

Seagate BlackArmor WS110

IMG_5532-lrOver the last few weeks we have taken a look at a variety of Seagate external solutions. Another big part of their business is workstation or business class products. Because of that its no shocker that they have an entire line just for that, it’s called BlackArmor.  BlackArmor stands out from the FreeAgent line with a all black product line, business grade software, and high quality hard drives all designed specifically for business applications. Today I will be taking a look at the BlackArmor WS110 3.5 inch workstation external drive. How well will it compare to their FreeAgent line of externals?

Seagate BlackArmor PS-110 500Gb

IMG_5523-lrI recently took a look at the WS-110 and was surprised by all of the features of the BlackArmor series. Of course the WS-110 is a little large and has a power cord, not something you would want to travel with. That’s where the PS-110 comes in, considerably smaller than the WS-110  it is designed for portability. But does it have the same high performance and great software that the WS-110 came with? Seagate was kind enough to let me get my hands on one.

Cooler Master Storm Sentinel

IMG_5724-lrWhen Cooler Master introduced their Storm product line at the start of this year they came out swinging with products designed specifically for gamers and LAN-goers. The one two punch they call the Sniper and Scout got everyone's attention and they are now backing them up with their first venture into the peripheral market; the Storm Sentinel. The secret behind the Sniper and Scout was Cooler Master working close with pro and enthusiast gamers to fine tune and tweak them until they were perfect. If that same process went into the Sentinel Razer and Logitech may want to listen.

SteelSeries Siberia Full-Size headset

IMG_5630-lrIt wasn’t that long ago that I took a close look at the SteelSeries Siberia Neckband headset. My complaints almost all came from the neckband holding the headset up. Steel Series does make a Siberia headset that has a standard headband. Today I have the chance to test it out, and to spice things up a little bit this one is bright red, If my wife’s excitement is any indication the Siberia Full-Size headset should be nice.

Cooler Master Notepal X2

100_2198-lanocA while back we had the opportunity to take a look at Cooler Master's Notepal Infinite laptop cooler, unique for its ability to support up to 17" wide screen laptop, as opposed to the average 14~15.4" limit. More recently, however, Cooler Master has release a new line of cooling options, and included is the Notepal X2, the Infinite's big brother, so to speak, rivaling it as the second CM laptop cooler supporting wide screens. With a new look, new features, and new design, its time to see how the X2 stacks up in the harsh realm of notebook cooling.

Logitech G9x Laser Mouse

IMG_5613-lr

When it comes to mice and keyboards gaming or otherwise there is one company everyone recognizes. Logitech is by far the largest peripheral manufacture in the world. In fact December of last year they produced their Billionth mouse, that's a lot of mice! They have also made a name for themselves with the G series of gaming peripherals including the popular g15 and g5. Today I have the chance to take a look at the G9x, Logitech's most recently released gaming mouse. I should have high hopes considering its family, but I can't help to be a little unsure. I was a big fan of the g5's shape and the G9x doesn't resemble the g5 at all, so who knows.

Western Digital Velociraptor

When it comes to gaming hard drives there really has only been one. The Raptor series from Western Digital has dominated the market for some time now. Their most recent Raptor is the 300Gb 10k RPM Velociraptor may be a little aged at over 1 1/2 years but still is a force to be reckoned with. Today I have the chance to see how the Velociraptor performs against other solutions including the SAS drives we have tested in the past and SSD's. Will the top name in gaming hard drives still hold its weight?

Super Talent PICO 32Gb

IMG_5620-lr

The most interesting thing about technology is how quickly it advances. It wasn't that long ago that we reviewed a 16Gb drive from Super Talent called the PICO. The PICO's size was very impressive considering the compact size. Of course with technology always moving that 16 gigs looks small compared to Super Talents newest 32Gb PICO drive.  Today I have the chance to compare the two.
