This year was our first visit with EVGA at CES so I wasn't sure what to expect when heading into the Wynn. But being such a community oriented company I figured they had to be cool people and we all know their product line is always interesting.
The first thing they walked me through was their X79 motherboard product lineup. They have a “low end” SLI board that is similar to their FTW model. But the Classified is where it’s at of course! The flat black finished PCB’s on each board stands out from the competition.
The upcoming SRX dual CPU board will take the place of the SR-2 that still dominates even now.
In 2012 EVGA is also jumping into the power supply market. Focusing on the overclocking and gaming community like always they are planning on bringing features that we haven’t seen on other models. If you look close you will spot a USB port on the power supplies, they were very tight lipped on what role that will play. The massive 1500 watt version will be capable of running at an even higher wattage if you play with the dip switches on the PSU and feed it more power. Another nice feature for overclockers like K1ngp1n is the ability to set the power supply to power up without a 24 pin power cable hooked up at all.
They also introduced their UV Plus +39 display adapters. A USB 3.0 compatible adapter than can run another two monitors for you if needed. The most interesting part is that you can run as many of these on your PC as you have USB ports. That wall of monitors won’t be that hard to do now!
They also showed me their zero client lineup that is perfect for some business’s. You can run 30 or more on one server. They also have a PCoIP adapter card that will offload that load onto the card giving you the ability to run as many zero clients as needed, all off of one server!
EVGA is planning on offering water blocks for all of their motherboards in the future. I asked if they would be considering selling the boards paired up with the waterblocks similar to how they have done with their water cooler video cards but it’s still up in the air. The CPU black shown is a new Swiftech waterblock design, fyi.
They also showed off an android app that allows you to adjust your overclock on the fly. It won't replace the EVBot but it does give you some of the same functionality without having to put out extra cash.
