It wouldn’t be CES without dropping in to see what Trendnet has going on. Their support for our events has been amazing and their products rock solid. But the networking world is always moving. A quick run-through of their suite showed that.
The first thing they showed me was the new upcoming 802.11ac product line with expected speeds of up to 1300Mbps! Finally wireless is catching up to wired in data transfer speeds. I’m sure that it will be a long time before we actually see those speeds though. Their new dual band router will still support Wireless N though meaning you won’t have to worry about upgrading everything in your house just yet. I think the biggest limitation is going to be with the interfaces themselves, not to mention hard drive and SSD data transfer limitations. For example this new adapter will have four gig ports on it, USB 3.0 adapters will actually be to slow!
They also had all of their 450 MBps devices on display showing that each was the first to market compared to their competition.
The Ethernet over powerline adapters will see even smaller boxes this year, here is a photo of the old adapter next to a new one.
Trendnet also introduced a few new ip cameras. They even have iOS and android apps for you to check in on your house while you are away.
