With summer classes over with I can now focus on what I love, gaming! Where-in-thee-hell did July go? I can't belive its already August, summer is flying by! With Blizzard dropping some big news on us, DOTA 2 has a tournament coming up and the Midweek Madness sales going on there is a bunch to cover. Lets get after it then.

Diablo 3:

Diablo_3
Blizzard has now announced that Diablo 3 will require a constant connection to the internet to play. Is this a big deal? I am not sure I am the one to say. I have never played any of the prior Diablo games but I have heard nothing but good things about them. The problem these days is PC gaming is growing by leaps and bounds. As you may have recalled I am now PC only as I have sold all of my consoles. Where I can see Blizzards point with WoW and sort of with Starcraft 2, but is this really necessary? Not everyone has a broadband internet connection (hi Lersar) so you alienate your audience right there. With Starcraft 2 most if not all of the gameplay was online meaning most of the time people spend playing is online anyways. I would like to hear what the veteran Diablo players out there think about this. Dumb move? Good move? As news rolls out keep it tuned to Gaming News for the latest updates on Diablo 3.

Midweek Madness 1:

Anomaly
You know how much I adore Defense Grid. If you like tower defense games then look no further then Anomaly Warzone Earth. Think of a tower defense game in reverse, where you are the ones trying to make in thru all of the gun/rocket towers ect. Its a weird spin on a tried and true gameplay style that many have come to love. Pick it up this week for $3.33 a savings of 67%.

Midweek Madness 2:

Paradox_Interactive_Strategy_pack
Looking for 27 games with DLC? The second Midweek Madness sale has you covered. With the Paradox Interactive Strategy Pack you might even lose countless hours battling A.I. while on the battlefield. This is one hellavu deal for $44.99! The only request is, is that you do not wait. As always, Midweek Madness sale's end on Thursday's at 7pm EST.

Duke Nukem Update:

Duke-Nukem-Forever
The new update for Duke Nukem Forever has just hit the interwebs. If you haven't finished the game already now would be a good time to. Along with now being able to carry 4 weapons at any one point there is a host of other fixes. One that caught my eye is that the AMD Dual-Core Optimizer will no longer be auto installed. For people with Intel systems it kind of got annyoing always having to remove stuff that my system doesn't even need. The patch is out now, don't forget to set all of your Steam games to Auto-Update themselves. Happy patching!

DOTA 2:

DOTA_2
Seems like the "Hot Action" is going to be in Cologne Germany at Gamescom. That, LanOC, is were the first public eyes on event will be held for DOTA 2. Valve is setting up a Million dollar tournament to be be played live at Gamescom. What does everyone think? Is there still intrest in these sorts of games with League Of Legends and Hereos of Newerth going Free-To-Play? Would players still spend money on DOTA 2 if other games are free? I am not good at these games at all but I do have fun with them. Looks like the Tournament will be streamed live online in four languages for those of you overseas or in Canada, lol. Whoever wins I could care less, it will be fun to get a glimpse of the game that people have been waiting for.

LanOC V9.0:

LanOC---logoDon't forget about our upcoming LAN party! We have a bunch of new sponsor's that I'm sure people are going to be excited for, along with returning sponsor's. Remember, without their help it would hard to give away prizes. These are the people that keep the PC gaming community rolling along. Please take the time to thank them for their support of LanOC. The early registration is over with but we do still have some seats open. We are going to sell out so don't waste time deciding. The seatmap has also opened up so you can now pick your seat. Just remember not to sit next to me please, I"M BUSY, lol. Can't wait to see some new faces along with returning LanOC members.

This summer is just zooming by, July is gone and August is upon us. Whatever you were going to do this summer your time is running out. I will be heading out to Kings Island next week for some relaxation. Haven't been there since 85' so i'm guess it's going to be all new to me. I hope you guys have a great rest of the week and remember to keep an eye on the Steam Daily Deals thread. The staff try's to put up the games as they come out but just like everyone else, we do get busy sometimes.

LanOC Gaming News will be on hiatus next week because of my vacation, but look for it to be back on the 16th. Until then, Wingless is out!

Just a quick note that I thought I would throw in.

Borderlands 2 has been announced! We will see more at Gamescom 2011.

Firefall is releasing this December. It's a F2P MMO with Borderlands style cell shading mixed with Global Agenda. Can't wait for both of these games.

Diablo 3 dealbreaker for sure there. I almost never played Diablo 2 online, and I put a lot of time in it way back when. I'll personally be rocking Grim Dawn at half the price, with map editors, random generation, awesome skill paths, and no DRM. (Big-business) PC gaming is dead. Indie development is where it's at.
