rocktitleAnthony met me at their booth this afternoon for a quick walkthrough of what they have to offer us. Right away I knew that I was in for something special. When you think about external storage, quality might not be number one; Rocstor’s products drool with quality. Holding one of their drives in my hand felt very solid and like they took the time to deliver a product that they thought out.

One of their drives was surrounded by a material that felt a bit rubbery, in case you dropped it the drive and the enclosure would still be in working order. It looked like a stealth fighter, as Anthony would say and I concur. Another one of their main selling points was rock solid security. Most, if not all, their drives come with what  they call tokens. With these tokens the drive is secure. You install the token into the drive about the size of the smallest USB Bluetooth receiver and you're off and running. After you are done you pull the token out and your drive is secure. This is done at the hardware level of the drive. The security is built into the drive itself. Rocstor also doesn’t keep records of your tokens  so if they are lost, so is the data that is on the drive itself. You can replace a token if its lost or stolen but you are not getting your data off that drive.

They also have a drive that uses a card that is inserted, think hotel room key, into the drive with a keypad on the enclosure and you can pick your own security code for. This is nice if you want to setup your own security code for multipule users.

From talking with Anthony, they said that they are really big in the Mac community. Their products have the look and feel of a Mac. Aluminum is used in great quantities throughout their product line.

They also deal with large storage solutions.  As you can see in the picture below, this is not going to be for a home user but for a small business that has very sensitive data. Again, all of these drives have the token security method so each drive is protected against unauthorized use. If there was one thing that I took away from my meeting with the VP, it is that they are dead serious about having their drives the most secure in the world.
