Fremont, CA (April 24, 2017) -- ASUS is excited today to announce industry leading support and compatibility across its broad range of 200-series motherboards for Intel’s new Optane memory technology. All that’s required is a UEFI BIOS update¹.

Intel Optane memory is a new class of non-volatile memory — packaged in an M.2 module format — that is designed to serve as ultra-fast cache for slower storage devices like mechanical hard drives. The combination of Intel Optane memory and a large HDD delivers intelligent system acceleration that minimizes boot-up times, reduces file-load times and speeds up frequently performed tasks. This allows users to enjoy the benefits of improved system performance and responsiveness while maintaining large storage capacities.

Full Support and Easy Updates

ASUS 200 Series motherboards offer quick, safe, and smooth firmware updates via ASUS USB Flashback or EZ Flash 3 — and now they also support Intel Optane memory. Once installed and configured, the ASUS UEFI BIOS will retain all Intel Optane memory-configuration details — so you won’t need to re-enter settings when restoring, updating the BIOS, or when you clear the CMOS.

To take advantage of these updates, users can visit our Intel Optane ready website, https://www.asus.com/microsite/mb/intel-optane-ready/, for full instructions on how to update an ASUS 200-series motherboard.

Availability

ASUS UEFI Optane updates are available now. Please contact your local ASUS representative for further information.

¹Depending upon system configuration, an updated Intel RST storage driver might be required. Intel RST driver is available for download on the selected 200-series motherboard support page. Intel Optane memory requires a 7th Gen Intel Core™ processor and 200-series chipset with an available M.2 slot.
