Last year 3d televisions were all the rage at CES and this year tablets are the big thing. You literally can’t go 20 feet without running across a new company jumping on the bandwagon. When it comes to tablets there are only a few companies that aren’t new to the scene and one of the more well-known companies, specifically in android tablets is Archos. Of course I found the time to stop by their booth and take a closer look to see what they are showing off.
Archos 101 internet tablet – Running Android 2.2 Froyo the 101 is Archos’s flagship tablet. The 101 stands for the 10.1 inch screen they use and it comes in both 8 and 16 gig flash storage capacities. With a resolution of 1024x600 this is a sharp looking tablet but for me the most impressive part was its half inch thickness. I wasted no time opening up our website and was greeted with a flash icon on one of our ads. They assured me that there will be a flash plugin coming out to correct that issue.
Archos 70 internet tablet – The Archos 70 can be picked up with ether an 8 gigs of flash or a 250Gb hard drive starting at $274.99. Outside of the size and capacity both the 7 and 10.1 inch models performed similar. I also had the chance to poke around on the AppsLib app store that is included with each Archos tablet. It is layed out very similar to the Google app store and according to Archos it is the third largest app store behind Apple and Google although I wasn’t able to confirm this one.
