Geek chic wristwatch ditches Roman numerals in favor of 4-bit binary code – the system of 1’s and 0’s that all computers rely on

4-Bit Chronograph and 4-Bit Wall Clock are also now available from CadenceWatch.com

Philadelphia, PA – July 14, 2011 – The Cadence Watch Company is proud to unveil a new edition to their line of 4-Bit Watches, the 4-Bit Steel.  Like its predecessors, this new timepiece subtly uses 4-bit binary code to indicate hours in a simple, geeky and stylish way.

“We are thrilled to add the 4-Bit Steel to our line of watches because whether or not you read binary, this is a functional, clean and classy wristwatch,” says Vanya Buvac, founder of Cadence Watch Company.  “We wanted to design a line of watches that integrates high-tech into classic and sophisticated timepieces. Incorporating the 4-bit binary markings, we were able to bring us back to our technological age where geeks rule supreme.”

Each of the four boxes represents the numbers 8, 4, 2, and 1. When looking at the dial of the 4-Bit Watch, the least significant bit will always be on the outside of the dial. For instance 8 will always be the box closest to the hands with 4 being second, 2 third and 1 closest to the outside. For example at 5 o’clock 4 and 1 are highlighted, please see figure 1 for more examples.
Other 4-Bit Steel Watch features include:
  • Steel case and wristband – 40mm diameter watch face with jewelry grade stainless steel (316L)against the black face of the watch adds to the sophisticated look
  • Miyota quartz watch movement –  never requires winding and is incredibly dependable
  • Water resistant to 5ATM – convenient for everyday wearing
  • Sapphire coated quartz glass – helps prevent watch face from becoming scratched
