You obviously don't realize that even when you use your Visa Debit card at a merchant, Visa makes money. So i bet Visa (who i'm assuming the debit card it though) contacted the college and told them. Save money on printing checks, making sure they clear, and re-printing them for the people who lost them, and just send your college students our debit cards for free!
Just another way Visa is taking over the world, one transaction at a time.
I know my school offered that, but it wasn't a for sure thing. They figure youc an pay your bills, and order pizza with a debit card. We even have a place here in fort wayne that doesn't accept cash anymore, and most places are getting away from taking personal checks.
