What do you mean by cracking down? Is it stuff you downloaded from a public tracker? If so, you're pretty much asking for it.

What downloaders do you use? Pretty much thought they could track torrents, news groups, and obviously the limewire, bearshare type stuff?

When it comes to illegal downloads with torrents there are public and private. Thepiratebay is an example of public. If you can sign up without being invited its public. There are a lot of private torrent websites that require a person to be very involved in the community before they can invite anyone they know to the website. Private is less likely to have people who can track it.

Beyond that there are other ways to hide your information while torrenting
