the peice that actually screws into the monitor you might be able to get some curve, but you are right it doesn't have a curve of its own.

When I was building mine, I tried with no curve. It doesn't look right. I did want more curve than I have, but there was too much weight to the front and it would tip over. The base has to compensate for it.
