I played with Hawx a little bit last night and now that i have dug out my joystick im sure ill be playing it more tonight.. Has anyone LANed this yet? Is it easy enough to play with other people? There didn't seem to be much pre existing flight skill needed to play this.

From what ive seen i think this would be a great one to play at the next lanoc

It is VERY friendly to LAN, to the point that you won't even need to put a registration key in unless you want to play online, so distributing the game for everyone to play locally would be a cinch.

I agree with the no previous experience needed, especially when you use the joystick. I've heard its good with a 360 controller as well.

I'd love to see some HAWX at the next LAN, especially if Thrustmaster hooks us up again. That was pretty awesome of them.

Excellent!

Im glad that its not just me wanting to play this.

I love flight sims but its frustrating to play them against other people that are good at flight and can do hammer heads and all taht kind of stuff. I really tend ( when playing in pvp ) to prefer games that are more arcade than real..

maybe its cuz i suck!

Either way. Maybe the Staff will make this a Tournament next time.

I won Haaaaaax. We may try some dog fighting tonight. I already had a flight stick, so now 2 of us can play. It should be interesting. Though I do have a leg up from playing Ace Combat on the Playstation, years ago.

There is a DX10 version of the game..

Yea, in Win7/Vista you right click on the shortcut in the games folder and it gives you the dx10 option.

Vista was really nice in that it gave you the option to add things to that menu. I would make a single shortcut to CoD4 and have the single player show up in that menu. Otherwise, it was multiplayer.

anyone else using a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro with this game?

How do you have it setup?

i messed with mine and it seems kind of awkward.. maybe im approaching this the wrong way..

Looks like just about every other stick. Set the twist to yaw, the trigger to fire guns, and left thumb button to fire rockets.

Yaw is only the tail rudder. It's not supposed to yank the plane to either side.

Really the only time he could get me was when we were coming right at each other. After that, I was on his tail and He couldn't shake me. When I set the match to machine guns only, he didn't have a chance.

so how do i get my hands on a copy? i downloaded the demo once byt couldn;t get the game to load :(

Or find someone who has a disk. Like I said, it doesn't require an actual serial code for LAN play, or the CD to launch it.

I REALLY wanted one of those sticks with the game, I would have LOVED that. I really hope Thrustmaster is willing to give some more for the next lan. If not, I may have to track one down to buy it.

I agree, it was really cool of Thrustmaster to hook us up with that. I had a chance to see more of their products at CES, and they have a very large array of flight sim equipment. I'm not a big flight sim guy, but even I got excited when I saw it. They've even got a team they sponsor who recreate actual cockpits and perform stunts together through sims.

We had a chance to try some more of HAWX last night, and I think we're going to check it out more this weekend. What's the general consensus from you guys? I know we've talked about it here and there, but I'd like to get everyone's opinion about featuring it at a LAN in one place.
