Guild Wars 2 server

So for any all who will be playing GW2:

I have a group that will be on server Tarnished Coast.

You should be on there as well.

2nd topic about this both topics pick a dif server. should pick one an get all from here on same server.

I just noticed under the system requirements it stated keyboard and mouse LOL.

IMPORTANT

When you select a Home World your selection looks to be PERMANENT. It is a PAID TRANSFER to move to ANOTHER WORLD. For the sake of it, I went to see what it would cost and right now it says 0 tokens.

This might be an attempt to be noob friendly, I don't know, just be aware.

I just picked this up. I haven't played WoW in a really long time. I hated that I had to pay for it monthly. That is what turned me off of the game and I let my account lapse.

I like this idea of paying once and playing forever, but Evildoer's comment about tokens make me concerned that special abilities need to be purchased in order to get farther in the game.
Is there any type of system that allows people to simply buy their way into the game instead of having to earn it? that's the one thing i liked about WoW, although it took far too much time and energy to get the good stuff, but at least you knew if you were playing with someone with the best armor or weapon that they earned it and they were good enough to get it, not just rich enough to buy it.
How does GW2 work on that aspect, and how are they going to keep servers/worlds up and working forever without further influx of money to the game?

I've barely played GW2 but if it's anything GW, you can spend money for stuff like additional character slots and cosmetic items. Apparently the right to change your home world as well.

More realistic, I expect to see things like full expansions and mini-expansions that have to be paid for.. which is kind of what the original was going for. So you don't outright purchase items, but you purchase the rights to be able to access these new areas to have a chance to earn said items.

Typical MMO, everyone picks different servers for no reason. I'll pass.

I don't know about no reason. Sounds more to me like we have a lot of members with other groups already committed to different servers. Can't play with every single LanOC member is a silly reason to pass on a game.

At least we have plenty of variety for when servers are high population or full, which is what happened to me.

Have you seen the population levels, especially during the head-start?

Apparently guilds are cross-server?

Initially, guilds can include up to 50 members across any number of home worlds; this can be increased up to a limit of 500 members for guilds that meet relevant requirements. However, members can only participate in WvW together if they belong to the same world.

They can be in the same guild and chat it up but can't do WvW.

And you can join more than one guild so if you make a LanOC guild we can use it as a way to chat over the game but thats about it lol btw Gates of Madness best server ever

People are playing on 3 or 4 different servers last I knew. That's why I don't really bother with MMOs, whichever server I end up picking gets instantly abandoned for some reason.

Sanctum of Rall is where the LanOC guild is at right now.

I am on the Stormbluff Isle server. The main reason I chose that one was because my guild from the original GW was on it. We have a huge alliance right now with The Sentinel's[SENT] and various other guilds. The guild I am in is The Ethereal Guard[TeG], and is by far the best community anyone could ask for. Online name is Arkoth.1754 if anyone wants to add me. I know that Ender is on Stormbluff too.

Davey actually isn't on Rall, though he is in our Guild. (Cross server).

Sanctum of Rall has myself, Cory, Roo, Teedo, Siameseguns, LithiumLotus, Dragon, Arxon, Keary, Roman, and Alex; all of which are pretty active.
