Nvidia has been pretty lazy since after the 8xxx series cards I think and look at Fermi where they promised so much yet we saw very little gains over anything. Maybe it is time for Nvidia to stop rebranding chips, stop over-hyping tech and actually make their cards affordable like ATI. Who wants to pay 600-700 bucks for a card from Nvidia when you can get an ATI card that will play anything out there for half the price?

Yeah, the retail prices of the cards aren't so much the problem, it's the margin, the support costs, and the number sold.

I think step up works like EVGA does it, where you can "trade in" your old video card towards the purchase of a new better one.
