Upgrading... was created by orref
I am currently looking to upgrade my Motherboard/processor/RAM
I currently have:

ASUS M2R32-MVP AM2+/AM2 AMD 580X CrossFire ATX AMD Motherboard

OCZ SLI-Ready Edition 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model OCZ2N800SR4GK

AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Windsor 3.0GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket AM2 125W Dual-Core Processor
www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103773

I do mostly gaming and plan on giving my the above items to my uncle to upgrade his PC. My graphics card is a high end 4800 series card that I think is fine for now.

I'm looking for 6-8gigs memory(triple or dual channel) a nice processor and board that I can play with overclocking and maybe water cooling.

I don't really want to go any higher then 600. Anything less, that seems like a good deal, is a plus too.

I picked that exact mother board as well, but used this memory after deciding i don't need 8gigs:

Is it worth the jump in price to go from the 965:

To the 6 core you listed? I hate deciding on how far to go.

edit: linked wrong mem

I'm a fan of the 900 series of i7's. I would buy a 920/930 over the new AMD X6 CPU's, better tech including Hyper Threading.

could spend less on RAM and the Motherboard. Problem solved. Also, might want to look at the 800 series i7's.

Yea I would love to get an intel chip, but it is hard to compete with the value that AMD offers in my price range. I've been trying to put together intel i5's / i7's but I just seem to get more value out of the AMD builds. I might wait a little longer to see if some prices drop on intel.
