Thoughts on Laptops

Some of you may know Kelf, he's been to a few of our events in the past. He's in the Army, and is home right now and looking to buy a good gaming laptop. He doesn't have the Internet where hes staying at right now or he'd do this himself.

Anyway, his budget is around $1000. Any suggestions?

www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220707 would be an awesome deal if he can get in on it, save for the hard drive being 5400rpm versus 7200.

Most laptops with a decent gpu (a la 5870 mobility or GTX260/360M) are going to be in the > 1k price range.

How about the Alienware M11X? That thing is usnder 1k and it looks pretty cool.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. He apparently saw a good deal on an ASUS Republic of Gamers model at a BestBuy and picked it up shortly after I posted this.
