I noticed the other day, after the most recent round of windows updates, that there is a new checkbox/feature to the Disk Cleanup utility for Windows 7. It is called Windows Update Cleanup. I regularly run the Disk Cleanup utility, but after seeing the feature on machines at work, I decided to run it this morning at home. Here is what it found on my machine.
To get to this, run the Disk Cleanup utility, then hit the button for "Clean Up system Files"

3.3GB of Windows Update stragglers.

If you run an SSD of a smaller size, every GB counts. How much does yours find?

This feature came with Win8. I think they slid it in with the most recent Platform Update for Win7 in the past few weeks.

None of my windows 7 units have this option and all 4 are up to date on patches. Odd.

Its not just ultimate. Most "regular" people use Home Premium, and Ive seen it in there. In fact, thats where I saw it first.

Have you tried manually checking for updates?
Here is a link to the MS KB article that will add in the feature.

I figured as much as well, I wasn't sure if it might of been only a Home Premium or Pro feature.

Is that JUST in the update cleanup, or in the entire Windows Cleanup as a whole?

that was total on both, not just update but the updates were about half of the total on both.
