I'm in the market for a new monitor! I am thinking best image quality with a price ceiling around $300. Do you guys have any opinions on 24" or 27"? What response time will show ghosting, or is under 5MS still the safe bet? IPS or TN panels for gaming? Whatever opinions you guys have is appreciated thanks.

Go for 27" if your only using 1 monitor. I have a 3 monitor setup 1 23 and 2 19" and wish I had 1 27" like my daughter has.

If you are looking for something in the 27" range, ive been looking at these:

Crossover 27Q LED

They are very high resolution. They use the same LG panels that Apple uses for their Cinema/Thunderbolt displays. Only drawback is that they are the reject panels. They may have a bit of light bleed or a dead pixel or two. On a screen with a res of 2560x1440, that amounts to 3,686,400 pixels, so unless its right in the center and stuck on white, you will probably not notice.

I'd say no LCD monitors anymore, LED or preferably IPS. IPS looks very pretty though. hehe.

Only seen then up close out of my price range until one of my monitors die or its Birthday/Christmas time. Had my 24 LED inch monitor 6 months. And would like to stay on my wife's good side, so no more monitor upgrades for a while. Be frag'd if I got another one.

5 ms has always seemed fine with gaming for me. Stick with well known brands. If theirs a brand you've not heard of stay away from them. Personally, I love AOC. Viewsonic and Asus put out great products too.

Thanks again for all the replies. Right now I'm leaning towards the ViewSonic VX2770Smh. It is a 27-Inch IPS LED back lit monitor, and it has a 7ms response time. That's not as low as I would like, but hopefully a fair trade for a IPS monitor. I have been poring over reviews for a few days now, with this monitor keeps coming in 1st or 2nd in comparison reviews at my price range(sometimes it's the 23" version). I would like to compare it to the monitors you guys have sugested before I make up my mind for sure. Its $251.99 right know on Amazon not a bad price all things considered.

Well guys I have been rifling over reviews for sometime now, and i'm not convinced I can't find a 27" IPS panel in a sub $300 price range without worrying about ghosting. So I think I'm going to play it safe and go with a TN panel. I will probably pick up the ASUS VE278H. It is a 27" 2ms monitor for $269.
