Hey all,

So I'm looking to reformat my computer and get an ssd to replace my slow as all get out hd. Just curious on thoughts on which one to get. Mainly looking for a 120gb and saw a bunch are like $100 atm. Do people feel these are going to drop by Christmas more or should I pick one up?

Also should I through the OS and all my games on the ssd or split them up?

Thanks!

OS and most programs on the ssd and put steam on your hard drive, IMO.

Try to go with a SATA 3 drive, the price difference isn't much to get the faster drives over the much slower older models.

I agree with Wes, 120gb isn't much for steam(my steam file is 263gb). I say put your most used programs on the ssd but games, videos, music, and such on a hdd.

www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227807 for SSD

www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136533 for HHD(if you want to drop the cash on it.)

Those two are what I run and no lag loading games with them on the hdd and windows loads in 30seconds.

Edit: I don't know how SSDs work now a year after I got mine but it was a pain to get up and running. So check on what you need to change in bios before you install so you don't spend 2 days getting it to work like it did.

When I built mine, I put the OS and my most used programs on the SSD. All my Steam stuff went on a "fast" HDD. I also moved my user profile folders to the HDD also. I have a feeling it makes the system boot a bit slower, but whether it boots in 9s or 15s, its still fast.

I saw newegg has a raptor HD 600gb for 100$ a couple days back.
I was thinking of just putting a couple games I play the most on there (db3, LoL).

Cause yea my steam folder is def bigger than I expected...
And I wasn't even looking at the OCZ agility 4. Is that a good one?
I was mainly looking at a corsair or kingston.

FYI about the OCZ's from Renegade over on NexusLAN

I have a Patriot SSD that i've been happy with, but i wasn't picky. Free is Free so i'm happy just to have one. Just have Windows and LoL installed on it...

Let me know what and where you get your SSD, Nick_Wic is looking to get one for Christmas so his Mom has me on the hunt, I'm assuming Black friday or Cyber monday is going to have the best deals!

Corsairs are great for performance and money. Great Reliability. I'd agree on OCZ be cautious on them.
