I know this if a few hours early but not being under any NDA I figured I could post it up anyhow lol. Expect to see reviews in mass tonight after midnight on AMD's newest video card. I can't wait to see their performance. Because of me having some health issues I am behind on reviews and don't currently have a sample in my hands. Post up some of the reviews you find along with your opinions. Hopefully I get caught up and get a sample here to the office soon though, I don't know how long I will be able to hold back.

It's AMD, their drivers suck, it's a long card, black and red, dual 8 pin connectors, that is my guess. Oh and $699 if not more.

Skyler your BIAS is showing ;)

remember your "driver" issues ended up being your power supply :-P
amd no it will have an 8 pin and a 6 pin connector, just like your single GPU 580's

No dual 8 pins? hmmm.

And I had to knock on their drivers, lol.

These dual GPU cards are always really cool but they never have enough VRAM on them. Can you say 6gb VRAM?

Regardless it should be pretty cool. 3 Of them would be completely stupid but awesome at the same time.

Do we know a price point yet?

And Yes I am BIAS, that is why I didn't want to do hardware reviews, lol.

Are we going to see a review from LanOC? I would like to.

I am looking at lining one up right now. Like I said playing catch up with my health issues.

I agree though, dual GPU cards are always a little off and buggy just like running SLI or crossfire. We should know a price point in about 3 minutes

most of the benches I am seeing is putting it considerably ahead of the 580, making it the fastest video card on the market. Of course the 580 is still the fastest single GPU, and can be found for 50 to 100 less than the HD6990

It's a good idea to do a dual gpu on one slot. I think it is anyway. Hopefully they can optimize drivers. And get some good crossfire drivers out. I like ATI. :)

The drivers for Nvidia and AMD have been fairly good recently, especially in crossfire. The problem is new games sometimes don't get supported right away unless they work with Nvidia and AMD ahead of time. Look at 3DMark Vantage 2011 and Crysis 2. 3DMark still doesn't have SLI support and Crysis 2 didn't have support from ether until recently (I think, don't quote me on this one).

The 580's are $200 less than the 6990. Just wanted to clarify that. For the cheap 580's.

Woot on getting the power connectors right

Dual 8 pins FTW, lol.

It's a damn big card, kinda like the fan in the middle. Good looking card overall. 2 of these in Crossfire would be awesome.

As for getting real crazy with GPU's. A guy over on HardOCP is doing a Quad 3gb per card 580 build. When you start running Surround games it really needs bunches of VRAM and the 1.5 on the 580's is the limiting factor. Pretty cool build, check it out if you want to.

it kind of funny, I am always waiting for a new driver from AMD, because I am hoping it fixes the issues, but it never does, where nvidia i will forget to update it.

580's sli ftw again !!!!

example: I open 20 tabs at once, and get a ati gpu driver crash every other time, lol

well now that the 590 is out. NV cant even manage to keep their huge chip at its rated speed as per the 580.
"The GF100 base architecture is broken, and there is nothing the company can do to change that. Arguing with the laws of physics, no matter how much you scream and flecks of spit fly from your mouth, is ultimately fruitless.

Nvidia does not seem to understand this, and the architectures they are floating for Kepler and Maxwell are aiming in the wrong direction. Until the company does a 180 degree turn, they are lost in graphics. The GTX590 is a shining example of this, it runs headlong in to the power wall with a dull thud. It may be slower, but it costs more than the competition, and things are only going to get worse on the next generation.S|A"

The most recent article that i saw is they are very equaly match !!!

If your a ati fan buy the 6990 ( bad drivers) currently doesnt support 2 new released games lol

and if you like nvdia buy the gtx 590 (cant overclock) (it might blow up on you )

Personally I wanted to see the battle between these 2 be epic but I am going with 2 GTX 580 still smokes both cards and is the best gaming solution out there. Guess we will have to wait for the next gen.

also aa and af off buy 6990 aa and af on buy the gtx 590

In the end it broke down to what games you play, but most are giving the AMD card a little bit of an edge. A little disappointing considering the GTX580 in SLI is a great combo, the 590 should have been little faster.

what new games?

I guess I'll be waiting until next gen or so. I have no desire to do multi-card or multi-screen. Of course, my preferred combo is AMD processor and Nvidia GPU, which is unusual; I really hope that AMD doesn't decide to integrate next gen and make it so I can't use any GPU other than AMD with AMD.

the funny thing is now is the time to get in. All of the high end cards have just been introduced. There will be a 6 month to year period that we will see both Nvidia and AMD filling in their mid to low end cards. This means you won't have to worry about having your card trumped two weeks after buying a new card lol.

True... I'm just not sure I'll notice that much difference for what I do for now. I can't run everything maximally, but I feel like games run well enough. My only issue is Metro 2033, but I suspect that will require several upgrades. I'd love to get a GTX 790 or something around that in about a year.
