Win7 = Slow Connection?

More

So I got rid of my ummm yeah copy of XP and actually bought Win7. I used to have pretty darn good internet speed and now it is slow as can be.

Is there anything that I might have to turn off that is defaulted on that might be slowing me down?

What kind of connection? Wireless or straight ethernet? It could be a power saving setting or something.

Its been rumored that turning off IPv6 can help with connection speeds... but I cant say for sure.

If you're using onboard NIC, have you downloaded and ran the latest chipset drivers for your board, or, if you're using an expansion card NIC, try using their latest driver if it seems reasonably recent.

EDIT: Also I find speed.io to be a better full internet connection tester. Speedtest / pingtest.net are usually great for spot checking but I've found times where they weren't very accurate because they don't meter for a significant period of time.

Ethernet

speedtest.net: 5.58 and 0.92

pingtest.net: ping 54 Jitter 14 Error Firewall Issue cannot test for packet loss

Also it sucks that I have to "Run as Admin" to get WoW and Vent to work.

I even went on Newegg to look at my order history and the only thing they have listed when I bought all the parts to my computer is my power supply.
