Winner of national watch design contest to become a reality with crowd-sourced input – Vote for your favorite model today

Philadelphia, Penn. – August 17, 2011 – The Cadence Watch Company has announced today they have opened a voting system to select the final design of the Josh Chadwick Watch, which blends the classical design of an analog watch with a modern digital display.

In 2010, as part of the Cadence Collective program, a national competition was held to create its next watch design. Local Philadelphia designer, Josh Chadwick, won that competition  and after a year of engineering and manufacturing the Josh Chadwick watch is almost a reality.

After narrowing it down to two final designs, Cadence is getting closer to launching the Josh Chadwick and they want your input to make the selection.  To cast your vote, please visit http://cadencewatch.com/josh-chadwick-vote.
The body of the watch is contemporary with a stainless steel case and hair line finish, and the band uses a traditional clasp mechanism.

Josh Chadwick is a graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology's graphic design program and has received a master’s degree in industrial design at Philadelphia University of the Arts. ”The design for this watch is characterized by a unique digital-analog display and a resizable wrist band,” says Josh Chadwick. “This theme creates a dialog between characteristics of classical and nontraditional watches to create an elegant, sophisticated, sharp and youthful design.”

“Working with Josh has been a wonderful experience, he truly is a great designer,” says Vanya Buvac, founder of Cadence Watch Company. “Josh wanted to involve our customers in the design process and rather than doing focus groups or closed surveys we opened the voting to everyone.”

In 2009 Cadence started the Cadence Collective program that empowers designers to create unique watches. The mission behind the program is to make watch design more transparent and approachable. The Cadence Collective solicits designs for watches and awards up to $2,000 if the design is selected. "It's like Threadless for watches," says Buvac.  To submit your designs please visit https://cadencewatch.com/collective-contest.
