Ok i started a thread over at notebookreview.com - they couldn't help me with my problem. So i will post a link for you to read over see if you guys have anymore ideas.

Arxon. I have a Asus G50v. read through your post, so I figured I would try on my laptop and see what the bios key was on mine, it was F2. I started pushing it slowly at soon as I hit the power button. I got a AMI Bios screen saying entering setup.

One note, an external keyboard will not work, I tried hiting F2 on a USB keyboard and it does not recognize it. So if there is something wrong with the F2 key on the internal keyboard that might be what is stopping you.

only ideas I have.

There is one thing that i refuse to do and that is take the cmos battery out. It is on the bottom of the motherboard under a brace. I would have to take the WHOLE laptop apart to get to it.

I assume that if you get into windows you have verified that the F2 key is working somehow?

Just not sure how to get you in to the bios. There has to be some kind of disconnect between the key push and the motherboard realizing it.

That is just weird Arxon. Glad to see your problems are behind you.

I still think it might be a bad key, but it working now is even stranger.
