I know a lot of you have HTPCs, and I figured I'd share a gem that a coworker recommended to me last week.

www.plexapp.com/

It's a media server for Linux, Windows and Mac. Download and install the server and point it at your media folders and it automatically downloads all the metadata for your media. In conjunction with the media center for Windows, Mac and Android, it delivers a stylish skin and hardware acceleration for all your high definition video. Best of all, it's free. I'm very impressed and thought some of you might be interested, enjoy.

how does it handle new files in those folders? Does it pick up new files without having to force a rescan?

You can set it to automatically refresh your library when it detects any changes in the folders. Just tested myself, it works like a champ.
