When I play video games, I do it as an outlet or a way to calm down. The same goes for watching movies, after a long day at work it is nice to be able to kick back and relax doing something you enjoy. When I was a kid, the best way I could kick back was in a beanbag chair. Well at least 20 years later I have grown to be a very large guy. A standard beanbag isn't large enough for me, and frankly wouldn't hold up to my weight. Sumo produces a variety of quality products designed to handle the abuse of adults. In the case of their SumoSac's they make a variety of sizes for different people. Today we are going to look at the Sultan; the Sultan is the 2 largest model that Sumo produces.

Packaging

Because of the size of the Sultan, Sumo packed everything into one very large box. That of course wasn't all they had to do to pack everything in. The box came with multiple straps on it keeping everything compressed. Inside you will find a plastic bag filled with urethane foam that has been vacuum packed to fit more into the box. Sumo includes the Sac and instructions on how to get everything setup. I would have pictures of the packaging but in my excitement to relax in the Sultan one night I forgot to take pictures.

Setup

Unfortunately, the SumoSac Sultan does not come to your door ready to be used. Because of shipping issues, you have to fill the Sac and fluff the shredded furniture grade urethane foam. Of course, they made it as easy as possible with it broke down into simple steps on the instructions.

Step 1: Open the duffel by carefully cutting down the side from the opening at the top. This requires some muscle. This will open the sac vertically. Discard the duffel.

Step 2: Take your SumoSac out of the plastic bag. The cover will be inside folded neatly.

Step 3: Break up large pieces of foam without opening the zipper (if you do, foam will be EVERYWHERE) on the insert. This requires some muscle.

Step 4: Let your SumoSac sit at least 24 hours in a warm place to get the foam to expand.

Step 5: Fluff again without opening the insert zipper (NEVER OPEN THE INSERT ZIPPER!)

Step 6: Fluff some more

Step 7: Fluff until all foam is broken up to desired comfort.

Step 8: Wrap insert with cover and zip to close.

Step 9: Enjoy :)

Comfort

Once you have everything setup and fluffed up the first time you jump into the SumoSac Sultan is heaven. This thing is amazingly comfortable! For the first week, the padding has an odd smell and it will take time for the padding to expand from being vacuum-sealed. I have the Sultan placed directly in front of my big screen TV. Along with the HTPC we built a few weeks ago, it is hard to want to be anywhere else. In fact, I have been having trouble staying away once I am comfortable in the Sultan.  Because Sumo used furniture grade urethane when you sit for a long period of time you don't sink to the bottom like standard bean bags.

Overall

Sitting/laying in the Sumo Sultan brings me back to childhood. Its amazingly comfortable and big enough for both me and my wife to sit in it. The Micro suede cover feels amazing, is comfortable, and breaths enough that it doesn't feel hot even after a few hours. The cover can be machine-washed, I did fall asleep and spill soda onto the cover one night, nothing a damp cloth could not clean up. With a price of $249 with free shipping, it may be out of the price range for some people.  If you cannot come up with the money for the Sultan make sure to check out some of Sumo's other models.
