Overall

So unlike a normal review, this is just the Overall section, not Overall and Final Verdict. AZIO sent out the Retro Classic, but this is a prototype keyboard. I’m going to reserve final judgment until then. That said the complaints I had mentioned with the original MK Retro are all gone. The quality is MUCH better and I didn’t have issues with the keycaps this time around. The backlighting was a nice addition and they really went out of their way designing new keycaps and working with Kailh for the center mounted LED switches to get the perfect backlighting. I think there is still room for some improvement like with the status LED legends and maybe a detachable cord. But overall I love the direction AZIO is going with this one and I can’t wait to see the finished product. The only problem is once again picking from the four different designs. They all look great.

As for being able to get one of the Retro Classics, AZIO is doing things a little differently right now. This weekend they opened up an IndieGoGo for this model. They are running a flexible goal, so no matter how the listing goes they will be producing the keyboards but right now you can get in early and get a much better deal. I don’t know if the suggested pricing they have locked in is what it will be when they are officially out but they have the wired version listed for $190 and a Bluetooth model for $220. In the Indiegogo, you can get them for as cheap as 50% off of that.
