Packaging

The external packaging for the Steelseries Flux In Ear Pro is simple and effective. The box is mostly black and gray with a bit of orange trim here and there. On the front we can see the product name, including the Flux logo, which is an interesting play on bubble letters. It is simple, but works really well. We can also see a picture of the headphones right on the front of the box. It is immediately clear that these aren’t your average headphones. From the picture on the box we can already start to see what makes these headphones special and unique.

Also on the front of the box is a Steelseries logo.  The logo is located on the bottom of the box on the right hand corner. Also down at the bottom are three little product features in both English and Spanish. To go with each product blurb is a small picture depicting what the information is talking about.

On the side we can find a bit more of the same, another picture of the earbuds and instance of the product name and logo. We can also see a little bit of information about the balanced armature technology and a graph depicting the balanced armatures versus others. We will talk more about the balanced armature technology later on in the review.

On the other side of the packaging we get more of the same plus a couple of other interesting tidbits. On this side of the box we can see that the Flux In Ear Pro have a guest star. These earbuds come with Comply foam tips, which will also be talked about later, but when searched for online, they typically sell for around $15-$20. Also on this side is a picture of the over the ear attachment as well as a brief explanation of the Comply foam tips and over the ear design.

On the back of the packaging is where the magic begins to happen. We get another look at the earbuds, but this time at a different angle than before. We also get a peek at the storage case that is provided with the headphones. Near the picture of the case we get a look at the two different connectors that come with it as well. Near the top of the back we get a glance at the product specification chart which gives us a good idea of what to expect from the earbuds. Last but certainly not least is the short introduction to the product that appears in multiple languages. The introduction seems like more of a sales pitch than any sort of informational piece.

Once inside the main box we find another smaller, less colorful box. The plain black box is what houses all of our stuff. Inside we can find a few different things. The first is a batch of literature containing a sticker, quick start guide, comply foam tip guide, a warning about LOUD NOISES, and a Steelseries advert. Also inside are two small plastic baggies. I know it seems silly, but I do want to comment on the baggies. They are reseal able, which is interesting because most products just come in a plastic package that when ripped open is only designed to go into the trash. The reseal able bags are awesome because it gives you someplace to store those small pieces; you know the ones that you always lose within three days of getting a new product.

Lastly is the case for the earbuds. The case is nice for a couple of reasons. First off it is small and will easily fit into a pocket or laptop bag for easy travel. It has a small zipper to keep the internal contents safe and secure. What really makes the case cool though is on the inside. First is a small mesh pocket that is fastened to the inside wall of one of the sides of the case. You can store any extra ear tips, or interchangeable ends inside this mesh. The other cool feature is the small Velcro strip that comes with the case. This strip can be fastened around the headphones themselves and then fastened to the inside of the case to hold the earbuds in place inside of the case.

So far a long list of tiny features and quirks is shaping up to make the Flux In Ear Pros a pleasant surprise.
