I have been saying for years that the next evolution of PC gaming would be setting up a uniform gaming platform for people to be able to have a lower buy in cost while still getting the premium experience that a PC can offer over console. This is because there are two things that consoles always have over PC's, a much lower buy in cost and a uniform platform for developers to create for. Its not that PC gaming NEEDS ether of those options to be popular, PC gaming just needs both of those options to overtake the popularity of console gaming. What am I getting at today in my early morning rants? Well over at the Verge they have a nice writeup on a rumored "Steam Box" that Valve may be shopping around. The most interesting part is they are looking to be similar to Android with an open gaming universe. That means that we could see multiple devices from different manufactures built on Valves specifications.
