Alan Wake on PC

Glad to see this game finally come out on PC. Even better is the Enhanced for the PC section from Steam. The last two sections are what I am really excited about. Glad to see dev's supporting multi-monitor gaming! You can pick up Alan Wake on PC today on Steam for $29.99

  • Includes Alan Wake Special Episodes “The Signal” and “The Writer”
  • Experience Alan Wake’s Pacific Northwest in higher resolutions and higher fidelity than the Xbox360 version.
  • Fully configurable mouse and keyboard support, or if you prefer to play with the Microsoft gamepad connected to your PC, you can do that too!
  • Lots of customizable graphics settings and support for 4:3, 16:9 and 16:10 aspect ratios!
  • Multithreaded engine that takes advantage of quad core CPUs.
  • Additional features our fans have sought after such as field of view adjustment as well as “hide HUD”.
  • Works with AMD Eyefinity 3D 3-screen mode.
  • Works with NVIDIA NVISION2 Stereoscopic 3D

Message from Gabe about the Steam attack

Dear Steam Users and Steam Forum Users:

We continue our investigation of last year's intrusion with the help of outside security experts. In my last note about this, I described how intruders had accessed our Steam database but we found no evidence that the intruders took information from that database. That is still the case.

Recently we learned that it is probable that the intruders obtained a copy of a backup file with information about Steam transactions between 2004 and 2008. This backup file contained user names, email addresses, encrypted billing addresses and encrypted credit card information. It did not include Steam passwords.

We do not have any evidence that the encrypted credit card numbers or billing addresses have been compromised. However as I said in November it's a good idea to watch your credit card activity and statements. And of course keeping Steam Guard on is a good idea as well.

We are still investigating and working with law enforcement authorities. Some state laws require a more formal notice of this incident so some of you will get that notice, but we wanted to update everyone with this new information now.

    Gabe

    Steam Mobile

I have been waiting for this anouncment for a LONG time. Today Steam introduced their mobile app for iOS and Android. With the app you can chat with your steam friends and buy steam games. That means no missing out on sales because your away from your PC. We should be taking a closer look at the app here soon to see what else its capable of doing, stay tuned!

It should also be noted this is still in beta. The only way to sign up is to download and try to sign in. Some people will get to try it right away, others will have to wait a little longer

    No Blizzcon in 2012

    http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/01/25/blizzcon-2012-cancelled-will-return-in-2013/

Blizzard have announced that their massive annual convention won’t be happening this year. Instead, they’ll be devoting more time to finishing their many projects. “In light of our jam-packed schedule, we’ve decided to hold the next BlizzCon in 2013,” Blizzard say in a statement on Battle.net, mentioning that they’re currently “heavily focused on getting Diablo III, Mists of Pandaria, and Heart of the Swarm into players’ hands as soon as possible.”

We have our Midweek Madness Sale’s back, Ubisoft is still being stupid with their PC games, EA has jumped on the stupid bandwagon with SW:TOR, Super Monday Night Combat is now in Beta form, and a couple of other things at the end. LanOC Gaming News 1/18/2012

gamingnews2Gaming News will be back in full swing next week. In the meantime, take a look at your keyboard. Mine was filthy, so a quick Google search brough up this nice little article. Once I pulled the keys off I was disgusted on how much "crap" was actually below. It wasn't as bad as the some of the pic's in the article but was pretty gross. So until next week, keep your keyboards clean and tidy, don't forget about your mouse either.

Drink the best video games of the year

12282011aLove video games? Fed up with the same old festive drinks? We think we may have just the thing for you.

Inspired by our top 20 games of the year list – and our love of alcoholic beverages – I asked James Dance, owner of stylish Falmouth bar and video game arcade Loading, to create six new festive cocktails, based on the year's hottest titles.

He has recently designed drinks for Capcom's Street Fighter community event in London and made up an Alice: Madness Returns cocktail for Electronic Arts.

So, from the explosive Uncharted 3: Drinks Deception to the sophisticated LA Noire: Truth, Lie, Stout, these entertaining and exotic concoctions will be perfect for your Christmas gaming get-togethers.

    Best BF3 Video ever?

10 yrs ago a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire... The A-Team.

Notch steps down as Minecraft lead

Hot off the heals of MineCon Notch anounced about an hour ago that he is stepping down as Minecraft Lead. His plans are to take a break and then start a new prodject. Of course that doesn't mean he will be free of minecraft, but this is a move in a new direction for him.
As of yesterday, Jens Bergensten is the new lead developer on Minecraft. He will have the final say in all design decisions, so he will kinda sorta become my boss, I guess. I've promised him to not pull rank. ;)
