With a private invitation to the Corsair press conference and party at the V Bar in the Venetian in hand I made my trek to my first press conference of CES 2011 today to check out what Corsair has to offer in the coming year. 2010 was a great year for them and they seem to be excited to give a sneak peek at a few new items that they hope will help them continue the trend.
The 600T is getting a special edition version adorned in a slick gloss white finish with satin black accents. The 600T is a sexy case in the first place but with a little white there is no doubt that this case has a sexy storm trooper thing going on.
Obsidian Series 650D mid-tower- With the 800D getting so much attention they have gotten countless requests to make a mid-tower version. The 600T was designed to fill those shoes but didn’t quite scratch the itch with a style that really didn’t share much with the 800D. With the 650D there should be no excuse. They are advertising that the 650D is a mid-tower on the outside but a full sized case on the inside. Considering it’s a mid-tower that will swallow up today’s largest video cards I wouldn’t be shocked if it ends up being as popular, or more popular than the 800D that it imitates.
H60 – positioned just above the h50 and below the recently released H70 the H60 is corsairs new red headed step child but this time around the Red Headed step child is a redesigned quieter and cooler version of the H50. With a MSRP of $79.99 it should be very popular.
Having trouble with the low light of the press conference I didn’t get a good shot of Corsairs introduction into the desktop speaker market with the SP2500. With an expected price of $250 they are very pricy but do sport 232 watts of total RMS output power and an LCD screen built into the control panel that is strangely reminiscent of a Logitech desktop speaker set. I will reserve judgment on the speakers themselves until I get a chance to listen to them. If Corsair worked their magic on them like they have done with everything else we know it will be a top notch product, let’s just hope they are worth the money they will be asking.
