Official Tournaments for V11.0 [EDIT] Now w/Rules!

Awesome choices! I can play in all of them which will be fun. What is the old school game though? Or is that TBA.

Looking for a smite team to play with at the lan. Message me on here so i can add ya on smite.

I will play in the Tribes and Worms tournaments. It can't be easy to sift through the community's' suggestions, and come up with something that works for everyone. These are good pics. Thanks for all the effort you guys put forth.

Old School tourneys are always announced when actually at the lan. The point is that you do not know what it is so no one can practice ahead of time, but it something that most everyone has played.

But, unless they changed things, I believe you have to be level 8 to even unlock Arena mode. You may want to check and clarify this.

True but it is normally in the tourney listing as TBA. Guess it might be an over sight.

Oh now while it's on my mind, will there be a particular ruleset for the Tribes tournament custom server? As a Arena regular, I know how much some classes can mess up the fun (Technician, Infiltrator), and I personally feel assault weapons mess up the epic dueling fun.

The three default classes could work to give everyone the fair match.

I just had a thought. I haven't played SMITE in a few weeks but...last time I remember there was no way to play a custom 5v5 with people that you knew...so how are we gonna do a tourny with that?

It scares me how quiet it got right after I point out a flaw in a tournament game haha

I realize people don't always have time to check this but I encourage you to make haste at deciding what to do about it lol we may need to pick a new game to do in it's stead

Gotta love games in beta though.

I know there was some grumbling over LoL tourneys in the past, but it has been awhile since an official one was done, and I think the same issues will hold true no matter what MOBA is selected. Dota2 would be the only one close to balanced, but it's a game balanced around obscene power potential on everyone. All of the MOBAs are challenging and skill-intensive, and small mistakes can turn the game. I have yet to dive into SMITE but I'd bet it's far from balanced, and it will eventually have features like runes do in LoL, so frequent players will have advantages (same as Tribes).

Considering the variables in computers, latency, external (HiRez) servers, player experience, and even how long it's been since you woke up, I wouldn't be concerned with achieving supreme balance in these tournaments. Some games lend themselves well to competitive gaming, but there is only so much you can do.

tldr Don't be afraid to consider LoL or another game if the issue can't be fixed.


Edit: Also any ideas on Tribes map(s) to be used? Hinterlands is the most problematic due to some physics 'features' aka bugs that they seem to not want to fix despite being toxic to gameplay.

Why the change to lol so late in the game? I went and started playing smite just so I could try an play in that tourney.
