Happy Memorial Day- Thanks to LanOCs Vets!

I'd like to think a group this large has some current service members or past ones.

So Thank You for your Patriotism! And remember the following:

"The price of freedom is eternal vigilance." -Thomas Jefferson. This weekend is not about BBQs with family and friends, yes it helps! Remember all the current troops, past, present and future even for just a "moment" this weekend. Their sacrifices mean we get to live safe from those whom would do us harm!

I would be interested to know who all is or has served in this community.

Awesome Speedbump. Thanks so much! What branch? Dad was a jarhead, served in Vietnam. Great respect to our service men and women!

I would like to thank my dad... served 21 years in the Air Force. My grandfather, god rest his soul, who earned a purple heart in Vietnam. Also to everyone I don't know who has kept me free to post what I want.. Thank you!

I served in the US Navy 1987 till 1993

CTC Pensacola Fl , 1987 - 1988

USS Mobile Bay CG-53 Ticonderoga Class Cruiser 1988 - 1993 - homeported in Mayport Florida and Yokosuka , Japan.

Participated in several actions and engagements:

1. DrugOps 1988 - Gulf of Mexico interdicted over 2000 tons of drugs with USCG support
2. NATO NorLANT Exercise 1988 - port of call Norway
3. Awarded NATO Expeditionary Medal 1988 for US Embassay Rescue from Somolia.
4. Operation Desert Storm / Desert Shield - fired first ship based war shot -1990
Intercepted and boarded over 300 ships during tour of duty.
5. Crossed Equator / Artic Circle / transited Suez Canal.

My father served in the US Air Force from 1955 to 1958 at bases in France and Germany.

My brother currently serves as a US Army Reservist in the 10th Mountain Division.
