Sharing Games on Steam! What?

I doubt this will ever happen, but IGN is reporting there is a Steam game sharing feature spotted in code. That would be very convenient for individuals just getting into PC gaming (like my Wife). The feature would tell the user playing a shared game they have to quit if the game owner wants to play. Sounds two good to be true to me, but I can always hope ;)

Would be nice, or they can just borrow your user name and password, then download the games and they would need to get your help with steam guard pc verification.
I've only done this at a lan to a person i've known for a while.

Yea you could swap usernames and passwords, but I doubt you would feel comfortable to hand out that private info to me lol. On the other hand if you wanted to play say Bioshock Infinite, and you saw it on my profile. You could shoot me a message, and I could drop it in a shared library easy peasy. Like I said would be nice, but I doubt it will happen.

It would be awesome if it was only for single player games. That way your buddy who borrows it doesn't get you banned form playing it. I think single player games have the best chance at this for pc.

Being able to freely share content I paid for? There is a novel concept.

I saw this today as well! I'm curious to see how it goes. Do you have to be on my computer using your account, or is it as simple as sharing your library with me and not being logged in while I use your account? Either way it is a good thing, but it could be a great thing. I joined the beta group I will see if I get in. store.steampowered.com/sharing/

Wow so I have had this the entire time and didn't know it or get a notification. Everyone who signed up should check to see if they have it. Make sure you have beta software turned on and you might see the option on your settings page.

You can also check your account history to see if this shows "Game Library Sharing Access Comp"
