dota 2 beta keys!

I NEED THIS. I guess they don't need someone who plays 5000 hours a week testing the game right now, so maybe someone who has one can send it to me . I should get one soon, but who knows

They only want people that play Hon, not LoL, I'm kidding BTW.

I've talked with Wes about Valve's willingness to help out LAN's and it might be a long shot to get that many keys for everyone. He said it's hard to get to the people to get it taken care of. The best thing is, they could tie it to your steam account and deactivate the particular game after the LAN weekend is over... Seems like a win-win-win! ha ha

Anyway, thanks for trying, who knows what'll happen! It's just a Beta, what do they have to loose?

I thought the whole point of a Beta was to get feedback, not to get people to write reviews... I thought you really weren't even allowed to talk about the game or take screen shots as part of the Beta Agreement... I think you just got lucky in getting the keys. Hope you're having fun and giving lots of feedback, so it's the best game it can be.

Well welcome to the community, go ahead and post up more than just begging for Dota2 keys please. How about the "about me" section...

A friend of mine tossed me one of he extra keys and so far I have played 3 matches. Its not bad, but a few things that I feel I should note. The shop menu is far worse than either HoN or LoL, its an improvement on Dota, but it isn't very impressive.

The game is a bit to slow for me, I see the game having more appeal to Dota/LoL players than to those who played HoN. I see many more games turning into a ricefest and turtle contest until the carries are ready to go. The biggest issue I have with the speed of the game is the response time, It is almost double the response time of HoN. Meaning if I click my well to send my hero there, then he will get headed there twice as fast in HoN as he will in Dota2.

I do think that the ability to watch other active games, especially while waiting for match to que, is possibly the most brilliant addition ever. No more twiddling your thumbs waiting for a match to start, no more afk players because they alt tabbed with the client muted. Also, as of now, you cant get qued with players who are afk, each player has to select ready once a match has been found for them.

Another thing that I like in Dota 2 is that when a player disconnects, including draining their 5 minutes of disconnect time, they can still reconnect to the game and play, there hero is not removed from play. They may still get leaver statistics, and it still gives a message saying "So and so has abandoned, it is now safe to leave" but they can come back, and pick up right where the left off.

Each player now has the ability to pause the game up to 3 times, meaning up to 30 pauses per match. I like the idea of giving everyone enough pauses, cause lets be honest, stuff comes up, but I am unsure how long they last or how to unpause, so I am unsure how I feel about this as a whole.

I think for now I will stick with HoN until I can get used to the slower pace that is in Dota. It just doesn't feel right to me.

My problem with this game is, we don't need another one. In order for me to even consider playing it, it's going to have to do everything better. Until I hear otherwise, I'll pass.
