How have we not had a topic for BRINK?

It's fun and serious, realistic and quick. Despite not being able to kill in 1 headshot, kills come super easy. The 'incapacitated when killed' system is very nice, and actually improves on how Far Cry 2 did it in ways. Only medics can revive, which makes them powerful and valuable. It's almost flawed in that way, how a couple medics can keep everyone healed and alive so easily sometimes, but people don't play medic too often.
The classes do feel similar, all having the same base weapons and only distinctions in abilities. I'd like to see more class distinctions, but I suppose it works.
The additions of bots to fill slots all the time makes things play well. Matches never really die like on other games where one team can ragequit and suck the life out of the game, and people can come and go as they like. I will argue that switching teams can be annoying, and you may want to make two characters to be able to play whichever team your friends go with. Otherwise, you may be fighting your friends because your default team is the opposite. Personally, I like Security. Freeplay could use a team selection option.
Customization is great. It would be nice if there were some challenges that could be gained in-match. In case you didn't know, equipment and weapons are unlocked by challenges, arcade-style events done outside of matches. There is co-op support for these, but this is not the CoD-style challenges you earn in matches.
There has been decent support, with patches being released and free updates with maps coming in June I believe. The variety of maps and objectives is a bit low, but recall how TF2 had less maps and modes, no bots, no items, nothing really at launch. I expect that the game will improve with time, and they have many good ideas implemented.
Reading up on the information, the sound system is very intricate and layered, and quite polished. With all the action, it remains easy to identify sounds and locations. However, there are occasions where the amount of sounds causes them all to crash from there on. It's kinda hit-and-miss, and with any luck it will be fixed asap.
Overall, the game is good, not perfect but fun. I don't feel ripped off for paying $50 for it. I realize the DLC bonus stuff was nice but I don't use the small guns much, nor the mask. But hey it was free, and the scope is great. Gameplay is decently balanced, defenders have the traditional advantages. It's nice having only 4 classes, so chances are you have someone as the one(s) you need. The medic is very powerful as a start, and sadly the engi is weak at start since landmines are hard to lay and you don't have turrets available immediately. I expect the basic turret to become available at rank 1, or a weaker form of it being available in the base engi package. All other classes are good and interesting. I do think they would be better to have individual levels for each class to unlock the abilities, since they currently offer you a max of 20 points to spend on abilities, and I could probably get all that I want for all classes with those points. There is little initiative to specialize that way, and having class-usage levels would provide a bit of that, and allow players to identify pros of certain classes a bit easier perhaps. But I'll be happy to see how the game evolves, and I'm quite pleased with it as it is.
