Well, upgrade time. My son's current setup still works fine and can handle most anything at 1080, but I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree and he was itching for some upgrades.
His current system consists mostly of my hand-me-downs. Intel I7 875K on an EVGA P55 SLI mobo. 8GB GSkill DDR3 1600, Corsair HX650 PSU, EVGA GTX560TI 448core and a WD 750GB HD. Everything is under a full water loop and it is installed in a Coolermaster 690 fully modded.
The upgrades will basically be the core components.
New Gear.
Intel I7 4960X,,yeah, 6 cores of Intel Extreme Power, can u say overkill?

This will be kinda cool to build because of WHERE it will be assembled. The parts are ordered and should be shipping out today. I have the GPU, RAM and CPU already and I am expecting the rest to show up Wed. I will not have time to put this together before the LAN, but my son said he wants to have it rockin there. Well, the parts will be brought along and we will build it at LANOC! lol Figure there is enough down time and I should be able to just mirror the HD, or install the OS and a few games. Either way, it will be up and running for the event and I think I am as pumped up about this build as much as he is. Oh, and he just informed me this evening he wants a fresh new case mod to eventually house all this new swag! Mo Moddin!!!!
It is truely amazing what we parents will do for our kids. Do you realize what cool stuff I could get for myself? ARRGHHH!!!! Kids...sigh. LMAO The 280X Toxic was given to him..."just because". He purchased the CPU and me and his mother bought the Mobo, RAM and SSD for his 20th birthday, which happens to be tomorrow. With this system, I can be fairly certain I will not have to buy him anything else for his gaming rig...ever. By the time this is in need of an upgrade...HE CAN spend HIS money on the upgrades. After all, I really can't see an upgrade for a few years at least. (well, maybe the GPU) LOL.
Anyway, anyone going to the LAN wanna stop over and watch...feel free. It should be fun.
