So the first two things that come to mind are its Sata 3 6gps per sec and the 128 meg buffer, 7200rpm spin rating. Is this gonna be faster than say a Western Digital 64 meg, Caviar Black, etc?

Is this hype? I know the SSDs are far superior, but I prefer to have critical data on the mechanical minions. Im thinking of getting either a 2 Terabyte or 1 one 3 Terabyte. My Storage Drive is getting full.

the Constellation is a business drive that is focused a little more on reliability than performance. The WD Black will have the same SATA 3 connection, but that won't speed things up. The extra cache is nice though, but I doubt it will speed things up much in most cases.

Always go for the single larger drive when everything else is equal :)
