Who is jumping on the Haswell Wagon?

Anybody looking to get one of the new Haswell setups? I'm not sure if I should dump the extra $$$$ into Intel's new cpu or just catch a great deal on Ivy.

I had this drawn out socket argument with Wes already. Until they add more cores to the processor I'll be sticking with 1155. I don't use on board graphics making all of those Haswell boosts mean nothing to me.

I don't wanna shell out the cash for a 2011 or a haswell. I will stick with my 2500k that runs like a champ.

I wont be upgrading my CPU until its time to replace the computer. I know some who are still running the 1366 socket rigs, and still get fantastic performance out of them.
At least the rumor says that Haswell-E is supposed to stick with 2011.

Thats the thing, a lot of people get upset about the socket changes but most people wait 2-4 years to do a big upgrade

I've never run a machine that didn't run AMD, and while I could gripe a bit about socket changes I'd rather gripe about things like motherboards that don't provide the same level of connectivity and other features as their Intel siblings. I know there are certain issues one must address when designing a board to work with a certain cpu, but would it kill someone to produce a few more higher end boards like the ASUS P8Z77-I Deluxe or their full line of ROG boards. This year might be the year I jump to Intel, not because I want to, but because I can't really get the features and the performance anywhere else.

If your running a 1366 or 1155 i5/i7 IMO its probably not worth the coin to change everything out if all your games are running just fine, and if they are not highly possible that an video card upgrade would do more then a board/proc.

So no I am sticking with my 3570k, and my daughter is staying with her 1156 I7 as well as she has no need for more it does all she asks.

Very very true. We both have a 6950 2gb. Have not run into a game yet that really pushes the card hard. Well BF3 on max and Crysis 3 on max but other than those two... nothing even makes the card cry.

Im going to pass on the new chip.

I built an i7 950 gaming rig 4 years ago and it is currently my LAN system. The 1366 still runs like a beast.

My new system is an 3770k and i dont see myself going to another chip any time soon.

Renegade is right, if you are running 1366/1155 i5 or i7 and can still play games with no issues. Then there really isn't a point in upgrading.

Im sure it will be some time before i have to replace my 3770k.

I upgrade my GPU for better in game performance and I upgrade my SSD and CPU for better performance everywhere else. In other words the CPU is only important in some games but the difference can be noticeable when just using your computer day to day.

As I mentioned in my review. This isn't an upgrade for people with Sandy and Ivy bridge PC's. I would argue some that the 1366 builds are at a point where the performance bump would be big though.

I wish I had a 920 test bench still sitting around, I would have better results to compare. All I have are results using the 980X that was considerably more higher end than the 920 and also had 2 extra cores. Even with the extra cores it is starting to show its age in my testing though.

lanoc.org/images/reviews/Intel_i74770K/graph17.png

But like I said, it goes back to CPU performance not relating to in game performance THAT much.
