123 [news]“Even though there are lots of color and style choices in computer peripherals today, G-Cube is unique in that it offers products designed specifically with women in mind. After trying out their wireless notebook mouse I have to say I’m impressed with both the look and the performance of it. The style is feminine, classy and the tiny size is convenient for the traveling laptop user.”

Rosewill RKM-800RF Wireless Keyboard and Mouse Combo @ BigBruin

As a whole, the Rosewill RKM-800RF Wireless Keyboard and mouse combo is a decent, solid performer. In a very crowded field of contenders, it doesn’t really stand out, and doesn’t draw attention to itself, but it performs admirably. If you are a hard-core gamer, or if you have large hands like me, you might want to try it before committing to the RKM-800RF.

thrustmaster_run-n-drive_wireless_gamepad_pc_ps3“Since testing computer hardware products is a PC-centric task, I’ve never wandered very far from what I know. But after writing my editorial Year In Review: 2008 Computer Hardware Industry Failure it seemed wrong not to taste the forbidden fruit… so I purchased a Sony PlayStation 3. Aside from the PS3 system, which quickly received an Editors Choice Award-winning Solid State Drive upgrade, I also purchased nearly two-dozen games and a Blu-ray remote control. I soon discovered that my racing skills were lacking… and I needed an edge. Enter the new-and-improved Thrustmaster Ru! n’N'Drive wireless gamepad, model 4160527. Now unplugged and built around the 2.4 GHz wireless radio band, this PC/PS2/PS3-compatible controller takes the Sony SIXAXIS to the next level and adds an optical wheel and under-belly triggers.”

Microsoft Sidewinder X8 Wireless Mouse

April 13th, 2009

img_3659lr-lrsmLast week I looked at both Microsoft’s Sidewinder X5 mouse and Sidewinder X6 keyboard. Both surprised me with their near perfect windows integration along with quality construction. To cap off our coverage of the current sidewinder lineup Microsoft provided us with their most recent mouse the X8. The Sidewinder X8 is Microsoft’s first attempt at a wireless gaming mouse available just in time to battle it out with the Razer Mamba that is also wireless. With their new blue optical technology first seen in the new explorer mouse called BlueTrack along with learning from feedback from the X5 they hope to turn a lot of heads and finally garner attention from gamers the way Logitech, Steel Series, and Razer have been able too.

March 31st, 2009

100_1464-lanocsmEveryone hates cords. They’re messy, tangle easy, and are simply an unwanted restriction. With the next generation gaming consoles putting some much emphasis on wireless controllers and accessories, companies have begun to eliminate wires that do still exist. One of the more obvious is the cord that connects the Nintendo Wii’s remote the the nunchuck controller, and ThrustMaster generously sent us their solution to test.

Nyko Cord Free

When the Wii was announced the wireless remote shaped controller caused confusion an intrigue. A system without wires was a welcome change to the console coming with a mess of a wired controller and a premium price to go wireless. Then the nunchuck came to light and there was a collective groan. A wireless controller with wired peripherals sounds like madness. MADNESS? This is Nintendo! They promised a solution but never delivered which led to 3rd party companies like Nyko to swoop in and save the day. I will be reviewing the Cord Free nunchuck by Nyko.

Something about being tied to your pc while you are listening to music and watching movies by a cord isn’t what I would consider comfortable. I like the idea that I can move around without being limited by a cord. This is where Kensington’s Bluetooth Stereo headphones come in. Running on Bluetooth they are compatible with a variety of devices. We are going to test them out with a laptop and on a Bluetooth enabled cell phone. We have had great experiences with Kensington products, will this one be the same? Will they hold up to our abuse? Click below to find out. Read more…
