Zalman CNPS9900 LED Review at Overclockers Online

March 25th, 2009

While it has been quite some time since Zalman has released a new high
end air cooler, they have shown with the CNPS9900 LED that they have not rested
on their earlier success. Its larger size allows for quiet operation and
outstanding performance.

Evolution Gaming Gear MP2 Mouse Pad Review at Overclockers Online

March 12th, 2009

After rigorous testing (AKA weeks of gaming), the MP2 has left a good impression. Using my current mouse, the Creative Fatal1ty 1010, life was good as I effortlessly moved my mouse across the (nearly) frictionless cloth surface. As an avid gamer may be, he or she may want to look for the perfect mouse pad that suits their needs, may it be by texture (silky vs. “rough”), size, or even the surface art. Being that the MP2 offers all of this in a neat package, with the surface being “silky smooth”, there should be no disappointment if you decide to purchase this product.

Samsung SE-T084 Slot-in External Slim DVD-Writer Review at Overclockers Online

March 12th, 2009

With the rise of the Blu-Ray and the steady downfall of the DVD, Samsung still backs up the DVD format by producing attractive internal and external drives. The Samsung SE-T084 is very well designed with its small form factor, sleek design, and quick connectivity. TruDirect is also a great program for users who want to write discs directly from their video camera.

LanCool (Lian Li) Metal Boned K6 (PC-K6) Review at Overclockers Online

March 4th, 2009
Comments Off

The LanCool Metal Boned K6 was a pleasant change from the other
gaudy, large cases I have reviewed recently. It does not have a window or
any other extraneous aesthetic features which serve no real purpose. It is
compact, stylish, minimalistic and elegant while still featuring a vast
array of features. With a removable motherboard tray, tool-less optical
drive bays, and unique hard drive mounting accoutrements, the Metal Boned K6
is not lacking in any sense, especially when considering that these features
are usually found in larger cases.

GELID Solutions GC-1 Thermal Compound @ Overclockers Online

February 22nd, 2009
Comments Off

Arctic Silver 5 has long been hailed as the king of thermal compounds
but it seems the king is finally dead. The GELID GC-1 trumps the AS5 in a
couple of aspects. Letting the temperatures speak for themselves, the GC-1
does a much better job at conducting heat (or maybe, not impeding it as
much). There is a caveat here, however, as the “delta” temperatures were
somewhat close. With that said, the GC-1 did have a smaller “delta” between
the idle and load temperatures in every test.

Cooler Master Silent Pro M 500W Power Supply@ Overclockers Online

February 15th, 2009
Comments Off

Cooler Master’s Silent Pro M is quite a different product, I would
not go as far as to say it is unique, but it does target quite a different
audience than the majority of the power supplies we have taken a look at.
The Silent Pro M is definitely not the power supply for multiple graphic
card systems, but for the typical high end system, or even small form factor
media setups, the Silent Pro M is a great choice.

OCZ Gold Series SDHC 8GB @ Overclockers Online

February 11th, 2009

OCZ wasn’t going to let us down with a sub-par memory card, and they
didn’t. The OCZ Gold Series SDHC card exceeded the claimed expectations of a
Class 6 memory card. We peaked out at 11.5MB/s write and 20MB/s read. These
numbers are similar to the original OCZ Class 6 SDHC card, but it does have
a slight advantage from the tests I’ve done

GELID Silent Spirit @ Overclockers Online

With its four heatpipes and excellent design, the performance is
great and it really is silent! I especially liked the fact that the base had
fins of its own; this way, not everything is dependent on the heatpipes.
Installation was extremely easy due to the push-pin type mounting technique.
Also, the cooler’s low weight and small size made it a pleasure to work
with.

Thermaltake SpinQ @ Overclockers Online

February 5th, 2009
Comments Off

Thermaltake was pushing the boundaries of innovation when they
created the SpinQ, focusing on achieving the unique look rather than
performance. The performance isn’t but for its price, there are competitors
who can do much better. Nonetheless, the SpinQ is one of the most visually
entrancing coolers I’ve seen, making it the perfect upgrade for someone who
doesn’t care about the big OC numbers, but someone interested in modifying
their computer’s appearance to make coworkers point and stare.

Thermaltake V9 Black Edition @ Overclockers Online

February 3rd, 2009

I’ll admit I’m a junky for full tower cases as I love all the room they
have to offer. With that being said I was quite pleased overall with the mid
tower V9 Black Edition. I never felt cramped or had to contort my hands while
assembling the PC. The twin 230mm fans do a great job of keeping things cool and
the front 120mm also sports a red LED. The black powder coating really sets off
the interior and makes for a very attractive package.

CSX CSXO-CEC-800-4GB @ overclockersonline

February 1st, 2009
Comments Off

When I started this review I’ll admit I wasn’t familiar with CSX’s
memory, but I will say I have come away with a very positive outlook. While
typically PC6400 kits don’t get a whole lot of fan fare, CSX’s CEC line delivers
on their goal of overclocking with a budget kit. If what CSX has to offer in
their budget line is any indication, I can understand why their Diablo line has
made some noise in the enthusiast market in other countries.
