Installing a system in the Chieftec HM-01B HTPC case was extremely simple, and the tool-less drive features may be the best I have ever used. Unfortunately not all aspects of the installation are tool-less, but it went quickly anyway. The internal layout gives you plenty of room for all the necessary components, with means to manage the wires neatly.

20 February 2009, Keelung, Taiwan – Lian Li Industrial Co. Ltd has launched the PC-V351 desktop HTPC Chassis. The all aluminum design features dual front mounted 120mm@1000RPM fans, with an additional rear mounted 80mm extraction fan@1200RPM. The front fans have special anti-vibration grommets to prevent noise. The sleek brushed aluminum chassis comes in three colors, namely black, silver and red according to your needs. The dimensions stand at 279mm x 262mm x 373mm (W,H,D). The chassis is imbued with all the functional and user friendly design aspects users have come to expect in a Lian Li case.

The Lian Li PC-C36 Muse HTPC case is a very well made case that has a lot of nice features. Its brushed black anodized aluminum construction is not only clean and elegant, it looks at home in the typical home entertainment center. It’s clear Lian Li never intended this case to house one of the more powerful graphics cards, but that’s not really an issue in the HTPC market segment.
Antec Veris Multimedia Station Basic

High-end PC gaming can be considered a niche market without too much of a stretch. Its expensive and doesn’t always translate well in the price to performance ratio department. Home theater PCs, on the other hand, are a niche within a niche, due largely to the pain and expense necessary to maintain a separate computer simply to watch television. Furthermore, you can’t use just any hardware in an htpc. If you want one that can decode high-def movies and television or even lightly game you can’t just slap the oldest stuff you have lying around the house into a case – the tech has to be somewhat competent. Antec has recently come out with the Veris product line to help blur these lines a bit. Whether you’re looking to turn your main rig into a pseudo-htpc, or trying to spice up an already assembled home theater solution, read on for our experience with the Veris Basic.

With the computer becoming almost a requirement people are spending more and more time in their office and less time in their living room. My household is a great example of this, between work on websites, reviews, and games I find myself on my computer most of the day. We have a 52-inch 1080p TV along with countless console games and I almost never end up in the living room. For the past two years I have not had cable or satellite, instead I have found my shows online. Apparently, I am not the only one who does this; HTPC’s (Home Theater PC) have recently started to become popular. With the ability to get online or watch downloaded movies and shows, it is no surprise really. HTPC’s are basically standard pc’s in a special case, Antec produces a few different designs. We are going to look at their Fusion Remote Max today. We will find out if it has what it takes to survive in the living room.
