<a href="#comment-7140" rel="nofollow">@PDub</a>
I can confirm that the new BIOS (SG45S10O) fixes the 16GB RAM problem.

I did have to clear the CMOS after applying the new BIOS. For anyone that experiences this problem, there is a clear CMOS switch on the back of the SG45H7.

Thanks to Shuttle for recognizing and fixing this problem.

We have over 40 Shuttle computers and they have been pretty reliable. Some of them are more than 3.5 years old and still work fine.

We did however purchase 12 SG45H7's, which use the same chipset as the SP45H7 tested in this review. Be careful if you plan to use 16GB of RAM with these machines, THEY DO NOT WORK! We have tried every 16GB kit available. The system slows to a halt when more than 10GB of RAM is installed. Clearly a BIOS issue.

We have been using Shuttles SX38P2 PRO for real-time 3d application development and are very happy with them. Running Intels Quadcore Extreme Edition and the 8800 Nvidia Series in them. The machines usually run all day all night. We had less luck with an earlier version before but these now have been a very pleasant work companion. Additionally I dragged my machine into clubs to perform visuals (dirty, hot environments) and it accompanied me across the Atlantic for the same purpose twice in the last 2 years.

I might wait a bit and see how stable these are but can't wait to update my setup and utilize the new Nvidia video cards.

cheers

Just so you know Ive spoken with Shuttle about this concern. Im going to keep the setup for an extended period of time to test it more. Also, I am told that they only have a 2% RMA rate

This is my first experience with Shuttle, I was unable to test durability in the two weeks of testing.

I beg to pardon, my noble sir - apparently you never used a shuttle at work! we bought ~10 in the last 2 years in my company, 8 of them are dead by now. either the power supply or the mainboard broke after 6 to 12 months. keep in mind that they where only used for "simple tasks" like word, excel, email etc. for 40h/week. i bet they wouldnt last for more than 4 months if you would play games on them.

[...] permalink TITLE: Shuttle SP45H7 @ LanOC Reviews DESCRIPTION: In the PC gaming world it seems like everything just keeps getting bigger and bigger. Recently we looked at the Coolermaster 840, at over 22 inches tall it's a very large case. What if you could pack your whole rig into something no taller than a DVD case. This is where Shuttle comes in; they have been designing barebone setups for 19 years that defy what most people say should fit into a small form factor case. In fact, they were the first company to produce a SFF system. Barebones of course means you get a case, power supply, and motherboard; leaving you to only get your HD, disc drive, CPU, Ram, and video card. Today we are going to look at their SP45H7 barebone, with a Intel P45 chipset and a SFF case I suspect this has the possibility to be a great lap party setup.
