Design and Layout

A full sized  QWERTY keyboard minus the numpad, the Neptor Foldable Bluetooth Keyboard functions in clamshell style to match the portability of its mobile device partners. The divide in the middle is little over half an inch with the inner membrane of the board exposed. Its protected on the exterior side with a piece of elastic cloth for durability and to allow the required flexibility.

The keyset is a chiclet style, and honestly looks as though it was taken from a netbook. There is about a two inch real estate on the left most margin that runs the entire height of the board that is bare except for three LED indicators for power/attach status, num lock and caps lock. Presumably this space is reserved for the vital parts of the circuit board underneath, as the power and broadcast buttons as well as the battery door correspond to the area on the outside.

In the two outermost corners of this area, you'll notice raised pieces that at first you may assume are bumpers to keep the key face safe when compact and carried. They may guarantee a little space so the keys don't smash together, but their intended function is actually magnetic. If you look at the far right edge of the board, you will see two slender tabs protruding that correspond with their larger counterparts on the other end to lock the board together when folded.

I touched on the exterior of the Neptor Foldable Keyboard briefly, let's cover it in more detail. You can see that the elastic piece discussed above is actually bolted into place under two leather pieces on both sides of the board. The leather takes up the majority of the outside face and sits in a cutout area of the otherwise plastic, so it protrudes very slightly past flush with the rest of the shell. Just enough, in fact, that it attributes perfectly to the rubber grip pads Eagletech has situated around in the corners and next to the battery door. I'll go into how these work together more in the Performance section.

The battery door is a typical watch size mechanism, but you shouldn't have to worry about it in any great detail. The Neptor Foldable Bluetooth Keyboard is completely rechargeable via USB. Otherwise, the remainder of the shell is a matte plastic with an elegant logo and bluetooth badge stamped on the right side.
