bequietbe quiet!, market leader of power supplies in Germany for seven consecutive years*, today announces an extension to its successful CPU cooler series. With ”Shadow Rock 2“ the German company is adding a square tower heat pipe cooler to their portfolio, which is able to cope with up to 180 watts of power and so can disperse the heat of all current high-end processors.

1.25 square meters of cooling surface achieved by fins

The symmetrical heat sink consists of 51 aluminum fins that together give over 1.25 square meters of cooling surface for immediate heat dissipation. The fins have a wave contour on the cooler’s exterior to reduce air turbulence and lower the noise level of the cooler.

New and optimized be quiet! fan

To supply sufficient air to the heat sink’s large surfaces, the be quiet! Shadow Rock 2 uses a brand new and optimized be quiet! fan. Unlike the Silent Wings fans, be quiet! have developed their new fan to deliver more air pressure for coolers with tighter fin stacks, as with the Shadow Rock 2.

Despite delivering increased air pressure, the fan operates at an extremely low noise level of 26 dBA. Users who are looking for even higher cooling performance have the option to attach a second fan to the heat sink. To promote optimized airflow and for compatibility with compact systems, users can choose between four mounting orientations for the cooler to suit their system configuration.

Four massive 8 mm heat pipes for effective heat dissipation

To effectively transfer the heat from the CPU to the heat sink, the Shadow Rock 2 features a polished base plate and four big heat pipes with a diameter of eight millimeters each.

The Shadow Rock 2 is compatible with all current CPU sockets from Intel and AMD. It is also able to work with Intel's recently announced CPU microarchitecture codenamed Haswell. The cooler is now available in Europe, where the recommended retail price (including VAT) is 42.90 euros. The manufacturer's suggested retail price in USA and Canada is 47.90 US dollars.
