686d98dd7eJuly 26, 2012, Shenzhen, China – Giada's new MI-NAS25 motherboard is aimed as a solution for System Integrators. The MI-NAS25 is designed for network storage and file serving. Built around Intel's NM10 Express chipset and the 10 watt Atom D2500 CPU which is on-board, the MI-NAS25 has 6 SATA ports, offering the best connectivity to NAS (Network-attached storage).

Available in North America through its branch office in August 2012 for the recommend retail price of US$169.95, the Giada MI-NAS25 is driven by Intel's nimble Atom Cedar Trail technology and supported by up to 4GB of memory.

The backbone of the MI-NAS25's specially-designed data storage subsystem is the Marvell 88SE9230 RAID controller, which supports ultra-high speed 6.0 Gbps SATA disks. This system features hardware RAID 0, 1, and 10 to increase performance and protect against data loss, even if a disk fails.

Up to six SATA disks can be connected directly to the motherboard. The Marvel 88SE9230 supports four 6.0 Gbps SATA drives, and the Intel NM10 chipset handles an additional two 3.0 Gbps SATA drives. In addition, 2 USB 2.0 sockets can be used for additional lower-speed storage if required. The PCIe 1x slot can provide further storage expandability possibilities, as well as wireless networking and other upgrade options.

To keep data moving across the network uninterrupted, the MI-NAS25 has not one, but two Gigabit LAN sockets, driven by the fast and reliable Intel 82583V Gigabit Ethernet Controller chip. This system supports Ethernet 802.3, 802.3u, and 802.3ab with great stability.

For legacy control and monitoring application support, the MI-NAS25 features two COM ports (1 on the back panel and 1 internal header) and also 1 LPT parallel printer port.

The MI-NAS25 has a VGA video output, with its built in Intel GMA 3650 graphics supporting DX9, 3D, and video playback. And there's support for life-like 5.1 channel surround sound from the board's High Definition ALC662 audio interface.

System Integrators will be delighted with the MI-NAS25 as the heart of a compact and economical but reliable and expandable system.

Over the last few years, I have been slowly upgrading our network. Some of it was just to clean things up but I have also been addressing issues that I have run into here and there as well. Most of that has been running smoothly but it seems like on the rare situations where I go on vacation or on...

Wired or wireless which do you prefer? In a perfect world, I prefer the audio quality of a wired headset but the convenience of wireless is worth it. You don’t have your cord getting in the way and you can keep your headset on even when you get up from your PC. Not to mention cord damage is one of...

Last year Crucial impressed with their first PCIe Gen 5 SSD the Crucial T700. Its performance was extremely impressive even when compared to fast PCIe Gen 4 devices. Well here we are at it once again and Crucial is stepping things up again with their latest drive the T705. Like with the T700, the...

It’s kind of crazy to think but the last time I had a Razer desktop microphone in for review was back in 2015 when I took a look at the Razer Seiren Pro . That wasn’t Razer’s first desktop microphone but it was part of their first generation of Seiren microphones and Razer has continued to evolve...

AMD launched, well relaunched their RX 7900 GRE today and I already took a look at the Hellhound that AMD sent over but Sapphire did also send their PURE RX 7900 GRE. I was a huge fan of the PURE the last time so I’m excited to see if their latest version is going to live up to that hype. One...

AMD’s GPU lineup started off with the RX 7900 XT and RX 7900 XTX models on the high end and later they filled in things with the RX 7800 XT and cards below that. But the gap between the RX 7900 XT and RX 7800 XT is a large one, especially with Nvidia having competition there with cards like the...

With the launch of the RTX 4080 SUPER, I took a look at the Founders Edition to check out the performance of Nvidia’s new GPU. The Founders Edition cards however aren’t available from some retailers and you might find yourself looking at other options. Lucky for us Asus sent over their ROG Strix...

With Nvidia’s CES announcements, they announced three different GPUs all with the previously used SUPER designation. I took a look at the RTX 4070 SUPER as well as the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER but the crown jewel in all of this was of course the RTX 4080 SUPER. The RTX 4090 is still the flagship GPU from...

Last year when I took a look at the Sapphire Pulse RX 7600 I was impressed with Sapphire’s design which while not as small as the reference AMD design was still compact where most other aftermarket cards weren’t. That seems to be the same this time around with the launch of the RX 7600 XT and...
