The Internationals for Dota 2, with its 10+ million prize pool, starts this week. In addition to the main stream, they will also be having a beginner's stream:
"Dota Newcomer's Broadcast
New to Dota? Or maybe you play Dota but have never gotten interested in the professional side of the game. Welcome to the Newcomer's Broadcast, an English stream happening alongside the main stream, featuring commentary aimed at easing people into understanding the exciting world of BKBs, tri-lanes, and counter-picks."
If you aren't familiar with Dota or MOBAs in general, this may be a great opportunity to start. I play more LoL than Dota, watching competitive Dota I always have to catch up on the current meta, strong champs, items, etc. I'll probably be watching this stream myself.
It's a great event to watch, last year my mom was visiting who has never even seen a MOBA and became engrossed in watching Na'Vi versus Alliance. This sort of thing is a great idea to break down the barriers and help more people enjoy the competition.
